Wouldn’t
it be absolutely extraordinary if the majority
of convicts served their time and never returned
to the system again? Wouldn’t it be even
more incredible if the solution were a simple
one?
Every action is preceded
by a thought and every thought is preceded by
a belief. The Program is a method that, when
used by an individual, completely transforms
what they believe. When an individual simply
questions the stressful thoughts or beliefs
they are having, the stress or the intensity
of the thought doesn’t have the energy
to do what it has always done before; either
move them or paralyze them. For
example: The thought “I need to get high”
is questioned (using the techniques from The
Program) and the individual discovers, within
themselves, that they don’t really need
to get high! We all know that no matter how
much we punish someone, if they don’t
decide inside themselves they’re not going
to do it again, they will usually end up doing
it again. The shift must be made from inside.
The more they use the methods taught in The
Program the more control the individual has
over themselves and they like that so much that
they begin to use the methods in their daily
lives, naturally!

Otsego
County Testimonials:
46th Circuit Trial Court:
This is to recommend the services of Christine
Lennard.
I became acquainted with Ms. Lennard by way
of referral from the Director of the University
Center in Gaylord. Although her proposed program
did not lend itself to traditional adult education,
it is well suited to the needs of inmates and
probationers.
Ms. Lennard works well with people who have
made poor choices and are resistant to counseling.
Her program challenges basic beliefs and teaches
people how to recognize errors in thinking.
She gets enthusiastic reviews from both attendees
and corrections officers. She is compiling statistics
on recidivism and hopes to demonstrate a correlation
with program completion and a decrease in repeat
offenses.
It is my pleasure to recommend her program
to you. Please feel free to call if you have
any questions.
Very Truly Yours,
Patricia A. Morse Chief Judge,

Otsego
County Jail:
Christine, I would like to inform you that
The Program has become a great benefit to the
jail population. I have personally observed
how the work has changed the participant’s
attitudes. They are easier to deal with and
they really look forward to the class. As you
know most inmates have a negative attitude while
incarcerated. The work has changed the participants
in a positive manner and I believe the program
has a lengthy future in the Otsego county Jail.
Sincerely,
Lt. Webber, Brian
E. Otsego County Jail Administrator

Testimonials:
“To all who are interested in The Program:
Hello, My name is Christina Vanwormer (age 23)
and I take The Program in jail. I am in Gaylord
, Michigan lodged for 9 months. If I wouldn’t
have started this class, I would have already
gotten another case! I’m not a very self
controlled person, but with this class, it has
changed me a little. I ask myself now the “Is
it true steps”, then the turnaround and
by the time I’m done It makes me feel
like I just made a whole new me. You would enjoy
it. It’s a wonderful feeling to feel yourself
slowly changing. I encourage all of you.”
“Before I started The Program, I was
my own worst enemy. My thoughts were completely
self-destructive. But as I work The Program,
turning around one bad thought at a time, I
have hopes of becoming my own best friend and
living more productively.

“I’m still new to the program,
but it has helped me in some of my stressful
situations.

“We all have stressful issues in our
lives. To have a program for us to transform
suffering into serenity is a blessing. I want
to thank you for allowing me to do the work.
It has helped me to do and look at my issues
in a different way now. I feel it has made me
a better person. I got to deal with my feelings
that I held in.
Thanks again Christine.

“To others like me;. My name is Paula
Grappin. I am a resident at Otsego County Jail.
The Program has helped me a great deal. The
class has helped me bring up negative things
in my life and work through them to help me
be a more positive person, and one free’er
of mind and soul. May this Program bless you
as it has me.”
“Yes I like this class! It seems to focus
your own individual problems like what got you
in troubled situations; how you reacted on them
and how you can avoid them in the future.”
